Frequently Asked Questions
A sculpt class is a full-body conditioning workout that strengthens, tones, and builds muscular endurance through controlled, low-impact movement with lighter weights. Expect a mix of resistance training, core work, and sequencing that keeps the body engaged from start to finish. Some formats lean into steady, beat-driven movement for a more rhythmic feel, like Rhythmic Sculpt class feel, while others blend functional training with flexibility and recovery, like Sculpted Yoga class or Barefoot Sculpt. Across formats, the goal is the same: build functional strength, create definition, and enhance muscular endurance.
Pilates centers on precision, alignment, core stability, and controlled movement patterns that build strength from the inside out. Sculpt classes are more conditioning-focused — higher reps, a faster pace, and a stronger emphasis on muscular endurance and total-body toning. Both improve strength, flexibility, and body awareness, but sculpt delivers a more energetic, intensity-driven experience, while Pilates is more measured and technique-focused.
Sculpt classes use high reps, light-to-medium weights, and continuous movement to build lean muscle while improving stamina, control, and mobility. Because you're working at a steady, elevated effort throughout, you get many of the same conditioning benefits as HIIT — without the high-impact, joint-stressing movements.
Equinox offers Cardio Sculpt, Body Sculpt, Rhythmic Sculpt, Barefoot Sculpt, and Sculpted Yoga. Cardio Sculpt brings cardio intervals into the mix for a more heart-pumping approach, while Body Sculpt offers a straightforward, total-body conditioning experience. Rhythmic Sculpt features beat-driven movement at a steady, elevated effort throughout. Barefoot Sculpt takes a softer, grounded approach — with Barefoot Sculpt: The Ring adding resistance through the power ring. Sculpted Yoga blends yoga and sculpt into one hybrid format.
